hks25258 on XDA-Developers has decompiled and reverse engineered Microsoft’s Project my Screen app, which lets Windows Phone users display and interact with their Windows Phone handset on their Windows desktop.

The app works similarly to Microsoft’s version, over USB cable, except for not supporting interaction with the device from the desktop.

In return however it provides one unique feature – the ability to record your Windows Phone screen to mp4, all without additional software.

For those on XDA-Developers the app worked well, except for the Nokia Lumia 930 and Lumia Icon.

In my own testing the app showed display issues with my Nokia Lumia 930, likely due to the 1080p screen, and on my Nokia Lumia 920 has frozen the handset, requiring a hardware soft-reset, so this may be one app that you want to keep an eye on rather than jump in head first.

See the app and thread at XDA-Developers here.
