We have read yesterday that convertible notebooks were on the rise, even while the PC market itself was fading. Asus is working on a new notebook which is just such a device, the ASUS Zenbook UX560 Flip, a successor to the ASUS Flip Zenbook UX360.

The device was discovered by NotebookItalia.it and features a 15.6 inch screen and a super-slim clamshell design which features 360 degree hinges like the Lenovo Yoga series.

It features “more subtle, elegant and refined lines”, a brushed aluminium cover with vertical stripes, and the hinges are stylized with shiny bulges.

The laptop is powered by a Intel Core i7-6500U (Skylake) to 2.5GHz and up to 3.10GHz processor, with Intel HD 520 GPU,  8GB of RAM (up to 16GB supported) and 512GB of SSD storage. The screen is 15.6 inch IPS glossy touch screen with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution.

It has a full-sized backlit keyboard with a numeric keypad, three USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.1 Type-C port , HDMI, audio jack and microphone, 720p webcam as well as a microSD card reader, with 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth and WiDi 4.1 and 4-cell battery of 50Wh capacity.

It also has Bang & Olufsen ICEpower speakers at the bottom and is very compact and ultra-thin: 380 x 254 x 18 mm at a weight of 2.2Kg.

The ASUS Zenbook UX560 Flip (UX560UA) will be launched next month and will hit European stores almost immediately, at around 1500 Euros.
