Microsoft’s reputation as a software company is set to take another hit, after multiple users report that their Surface Pro Type Covers have stopped working, apparently after a software update by Microsoft.

Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 tablets are known to be affected, and the issue appears to be software related, as the keyboards still work in the UEFI boot environment and when moved to other tablets.

Users have reported a number of temporary solutions, such as letting their Surface Pro drain completely, but the problem appears to recur soon afterwards.

So far Microsoft has not acknowledged the issue, and no permanent solution has been forthcoming.
