Microsoft is rolling out tons of improvements for the Surface Pro 9 5G users with the latest September 2023 firmware update. Besides improvements, the latest firmware update also includes no new features and no security fixes. That said, the update is still important for all the Surface Pro 9 5G users.
The September 2023 firmware update brings device stability improvements for the SQ3-powered Surface Pro 9 5G. And in theory, that should make your Pro 9 more stable in terms of overall performance. The firmware also improves the Surface Dock 2 stability in Surface Pro 9 5G devices. And for those facing issues while logging in to your PC using the Hello face recognition, Microsoft has fixed it in this firmware update.
Apart from the improvements, the latest September 2023 firmware enabled support for new docking accessories in Surface Pro 9 5G. Microsoft has been rolling out this capability to many of its Surface devices through firmware updates. And now, it’s rolling out to the Pro 9. However, the firmware update is rolling out in phases, which means you may not get all these improvements on your Surface Pro 9 right now.
As pointed out by Microsoft in its official changelog, the September 2023 firmware update is being rolled out to those who are running Windows 11 Update, Version 22H2, or greater. It’s also important to note that you’ll need to restart your device to finish installing the update.
To check if you’ve got the latest firmware update, open the Settings app, and then go to Windows Update and click Check for updates. The firmware update should appear if it’s available for your Surface Pro 9 5G.
