Microsoft promises to bring Minecraft to Windows Phone

In what in bygone days may have been a Duh! statement but which in these uncertain cross-platform times is reassuring, Microsoft has confirmed they will be bringing Minecraft to Windows Phone.

The confirmation was via Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, and his answer suggests he will be bringing the app to the Windows Store, with both Windows Phone and Windows RT users benefiting.

Microsoft announced their intent to purchase Mojang, the developers of Minecraft, for $2.5 billion last Monday, but has reassured players on the many platforms the Java app is available on that they will not be withdrawing it from competing platforms like iOS, Android and the Sony Playstation consoles.  At the same time Microsoft has not however confirmed that the popular construction game would be coming to Windows Phone, seemingly the only major mobile platform the app is not currently available on
