Paint on Windows 11

Microsoft shipped a new Windows 11 beta build for Windows Insiders not too long ago, and with that, the Redmond tech giant is making the AI-powered Paint on Windows 11 a lot more useful.

The KB5052100 update, which was launched for the Beta channel, adds a Copilot menu, making AI-powered tools like Cocreator, Image Creator, Generative Erase, and Remove Background even easier to access. You can check them out if you have Paint v. 11.2412.271.0 or newer in the Beta and Release Preview channels for now.

Paint’s Cocreator is a staple feature of Copilot+ PCs, and it lets you create AI-generated images using DALL-E’s model. The feature was shipped years ago back in 2023.

To run the AI-powered feature, you need a Copilot+ PC with an NPU capable of 40 TOPS to process everything locally on your device, so it won’t be uploaded to Microsoft or anywhere else. You must also sign in with a Microsoft account, and the company is tracking prompts to filter content and reduce potential abuse.

And last year, Microsoft also added some more Copilot smarts to Windows 11’s Photos and Camera apps. The Photos app now includes a Copilot plugin for creating slideshows and setting desktop backgrounds, similar to IOS and Android features.

Still from the KB5052100-related news, Microsoft also includes general improvements and fixes here and there, such as resolving a Settings crash issue. Known issues include slow File Explorer closing and incorrect enterprise-related settings appearing on personal devices.
