Key notes
- Instagram’s Meta AI now suggests creative bios with options like “Shuffle” and “Emojis.”
- Meta AI has 600 million users and offers features like chat, image generation, and caption help.
- The Facebook parent company recently faces criticism for introducing AI-generated bots on Facebook and Instagram.
Meta AI has been around on Instagram for quite some time, but a recently surfaced (unannounced) update will soon let you use AI to write your bio.
The update, as first spotted by @FasluEarly and @applab1, shows that Instagram will have its AI giving you creative suggestions for your bio. You can also choose options like “Shuffle Suggestions” or “Rewrite” to switch things up. There are also options to make it “Funny” or “Absurd,” add “Emojis,” and more.
This is part of a gazillion of AI smarts that Instagram has, thanks to Meta AI. So far, you can interact with the AI chatbot to ask questions, generate images, paraphrase captions, and receive advice. You can even engage with it using your own voice, or even ask it to create personalized background themes for your DM chats.
Meta’s push for its AI use also drove a rapid growth of Meta AI, with nearly 600 million monthly users reported back in December. At that time, the company also released its Llama 3.3 70B model, which offers similar performance to the previous Llama 3.1 405B model but at a much lower cost.
The popular visual-sharing app is among the platforms owned by Meta, Facebook’s parent company. And in recent months, the Mark Zuckerberg-owned platforms are really heavily into AI use.
But not all is welcomed, though. Last December, Meta was thrown under the bus for reportedly planning to introduce AI-generated bots on Facebook and Instagram to boost engagement. These bots would act like profiles with bios and they can even create content.
