Huawei’s second generation Windows Phone 8 handset, the Huawei Ascend W2, is now on sale at JD.com in China.

The handset is retailing for only 999 Yuan, which is only $160, and the first 500 buyers are getting a free 5,200 mAh portable phone charger with the deal.

The smartphone is available in Black, Yellow and Blue, and features a unique LED below the capacitive keys which will change colour depending on your current theme.

In keeping with the price, the Huawei Ascend W2 is a low-end handset, with the following specs:

  • Operating System: Windows Phone8
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM 8230 dual-core 1.4 GHz
  • GPU: Adreno 305 graphics processor, clocked at 400MHZ GPU
  • Battery Capacity: 1700mAh
  • Colors: blue dream, Chinese red, lemon yellow
  • Screen size: 4.3 inches 800×480 pixels
  • Camera : 5 Megapixels
  • RAM capacity: 512MB
  • ROM Capacity: 8GB
  • memory cards: MicroSD Card

The specs compare relatively well with the Nokia Lumia 520 which is in the same price range, and may see Huawei give Nokia some good competition in the low end, not just in China, but world-wide.
