Recently we reported about the new Windows Phone Internals which allowed people to install Windows 10 for ARM on Windows Phone and Lumia 1520 to be specific. Just as you thought this might be the end, a Twitter user who goes by the name “Roman Linev?” installed Windows PE to his Xiaomi Mi 4.

He shared the details in a Twitter thread and it looks like the device is not that stable. There are errors coming up which I am sure will be fixed soon enough but for now, we do have a Xiaomi Mi 4 running Windows PE without any major issues or flaws.

For those who don’t know, Windows PE or Preinstalled Environment is a stripped down version of Windows which is usually used to deploy or troubleshoot hardware like Workstations, Servers and even PCs. It is used by OEMs to install OS on your PC or laptop and was made by Microsoft to replace the tradition MS-DOS interface.

For now, Roman hasn’t shared much details about the performance and issues of the OS apart from the few errors. So we will have to wait and see how it performs in the long run. In the meantime, you can head to the comments section below and let us know your thoughts on this.
