On May 19, 2025, Google released its NotebookLM app for Android and iOS, a day ahead of the anticipated launch and just before the commencement of Google I/O 2025. Previously accessible only via desktop, NotebookLM now extends its AI-powered research assistance to mobile users. The app is available for download on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

How Handy is the dedicated NotebookLM app?
The mobile app retains core functionalities from its desktop counterpart. Users can create new notebooks, add diverse sources, and utilize features like Audio Overviews for on-the-go learning. The app supports light and dark modes, aligning with the device’s system settings.
New Features of NotebookLM App
While the app currently supports adding PDFs, websites, YouTube links, and text, some features from the desktop version, such as integration with Google Docs and Slides, are not yet available on mobile. Having said that, here are few features you can find on the app:

Share to NotebookLM from anywhere: Users can add inputs from anywhere to the app, such as when viewing a website, a PDF, or a YouTube video. Simply tap the share icon and select NotebookLM to add it as a new source. Google has promised to add new input types in the coming future.
Interact with the hosts: The app can also ask questions, acting similar to a host. By tapping join, users can ask different questions (smart or silly) as they like!
While there could be innemerous ways to use the app, below are some use cases you can have a look at:
- Students can consolidate lecture notes and research materials to generate study guides.
