Facebook, Google, and Oracle found to be involved in tracking users’ habit of watching porn on the internet.
According to a new study, Google or its subsidiaries had trackers on 74 percent porn sites, while Oracle and Facebook have trackers on 24 percent and 10 percent websites respectively.
Switching to incognito mode doesn’t help either. Trackers developed by Facebook, Google, and Oracle remain fully effective even when you switch to incognito mode, thereby handing over data to third parties.
Researchers from Microsoft, Carnegie Mellon, and the University of Pennsylvania analyzed 22,484 porn sites, of which 93 percent pages leak user data to third parties, leaving users vulnerable to privacy attacks.
“The fact that the mechanism for adult site tracking is so similar to, say, online retail should be a huge red flag,” researcher Elena Maris told The New York Times.

Facebook and Google, however, said that they do not use information collected from porn site visitors for the purpose of building marketing profiles( via Bussiness Insider). “We don’t allow Google Ads on websites with adult content and we prohibit personalized advertising and advertising profile based on a user’s sexual interests or related activities online. Additionally, tags for our ad services are never allowed to transmit personally identifiable information to Google,” a Google spokesperson told Business Insider.
Meanwhile, Facebook said that it doesn’t allow sex websites to use its tracking tools for business purposes. Oracle remained unavailable for comments.
