Google’s December update for Pixels comes with a few extra goodies for users of older devices. The firm is adding support for the new Pixel Themes app to the Pixel 3a and 3aXL. The app initially debuted with the Pixel 4 and 4 XL, but now is making its way down to older devices today.

With the Themes app, users gain access to a fair bit of customisation with the stock Pixel Launcher. They can change accent colours, icon shapes, clock styles and fonts. It has been present on Android 10 since inception under Developer Options, but Google is now bringing it to older users in a user-friendly manner.

The firm is also adding Live Caption, one of the Pixel 4’s best features, to older devices.

“With a single tap, Live Caption automatically captions videos and spoken audio on your device (except phone and video calls). It happens in real-time and completely on-device, so it works even if you don’t have cell data or Wi-Fi, and the captions always stay private and never leave your phone,” Google explained earlier this year.

Google plans to bring Live Caption to other devices from next year as the Android 10 rollout commence.
