Microsoft has just invited Xbox Insiders in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead rings to preview Xbox Game Pass Core, the evolution of Xbox Live Gold.

Game Pass Core will give players access to our advanced multiplayer network, a select collection of over 25 games to play with friends around the world, and exclusive member deals, all for $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year.

If you remember, the tech makers behind the green console just killed the Live Gold subscription plan and replaced it, effective in September this year. Game Pass Core, the new service that’ll replace it, is pretty much the same as Live Gold, plus access to a library of over 100 games.

“Starting this week, Xbox Live Gold members in the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead ring will be able to preview Xbox Game Pass Core,” says Lily Wang, Senior Product Manager at Xbox Experiences, in the announcement

Xbox Insiders in these rings will soon have access to a new selection of games as part of their Game Pass Core library. These games include Psychonauts 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, State of Decay 2, and Doom Eternal. The full library will be available at launch on September 14.

Speaking of Xbox, not too long ago, Microsoft rolled out a new Xbox Home screen. Sounds good on paper, but unfortunately, not everyone is thrilled about it. One gamer complained on the community’s subreddit that the “Most played games” tab is “unmovable” and contains games that they do not even own. Ouch.
