If Facebook can’t buy you they are very likely to clone you. So says Jane Machun Wong, who has discovered that Facebook is testing the addition of a TikTok clone to Instagram Stories.

Called Clips, the feature would allow users to record segments of videos into a single video Story, overlay music on clips and adjust the speed and timer of each of the video clips.

The copy is not feature complete yet, with Clips not yet allowing the use of filters and effects, but these should be easy to add.

TikTok is, of course, the rising star from China which is rapidly taking over the world, and unlike Instagram, and like Snapchat, Facebook can’t just open up their cheque book and make the competition go away.

With Instagram Stories Facebook of course managed to steam roller over Snapchat. It is not clear if adding Clips to Instagram Stories will have the same effect.
