EA has revealed that there will be a bunch of next-gen enhancements for their games on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5.
Star Wars Squadrons
EA Motive’s arcade space simulator Star Wars Squadrons will see multiple improvements depending on what system you’re playing on.
On PlayStation 5, the game will run at the same dynamic 4K as PlayStation 4 Pro at 60fps, but the game will benefit from improved lighting as well.
Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have two options each. There’s an improved visuals mode that brings the same lighting enhancements as PS5 at 2160p/60 FPS on Series X and up to 1440p/60 fps on Series S. Then there’s the improved performance mode that runs at the same resolution but at 120fps.
Apex Legends
EA has revealed that there will be two next-gen updates for their popular battle royale game. Firstly, all consoles will see a boost up to 1440p, but there will be even more next-gen goodness next year.
FIFA 21, NHL 21, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, The Sims 4, Madden NFL 21, UFC 2.Â
All of these games are essentially unimproved. While framerates will be smoothed out and loading times will be reduced, none of these games will see any next-gen enhancements at launch. PlayStation 5 owners will play the games as if they’re playing on PS4 Pro, Series S will play One X versions and Series S will play Xbox One S versions of the game.
Madden and FIFA will get next-gen versions in the future.
