Cortana in the current version of Windows 10 looks pretty awful. Fortunately Windows 10 is a work in progress, and from the above image, presumably from a Microsoft presentation, and tweeted by Tom Warren, a much better looking digital agent, with what appears to be Bing image of the day backgrounds and with very fetching semi-transparent overlays for cards, is on the way.
Hopefully we will see the improved version roll out to handsets running the Technical Preview soon.
