It turns out that the rumour we reported on is true – Borderlands 1 is getting a handsome new makeover and is heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC in a brand new Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition.

You read that right – it’s coming out on PC again. The difference is that this Game of the Year Edition has brand new weapons, substantial visual upgrades, quality of life improvements, all four add-on packs, and more.

The original Borderlands has previously had two Game of the Year editions, but neither have been made available on modern consoles. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, while available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, lacked the first game in the series. It instead consisted of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.

The move to modern consoles is a welcome one, especially as Borderlands 3 has now been announced. Seeing as every game in the Borderlands series will now be available on modern consoles, Borderlands fans can enjoy the series all in one place. Or you can buy each game on a different platform. Or you can buy all the games on all the consoles. We won’t judge.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is due out on April 3rd, 2019. That’s the same date that more information on Borderlands 3 will become available, so stay tuned!

If you can’t wait that long for whatever reason, check out the original Borderlands on Steam! They even have a 4-pack version where you can send 3 copies to your friends. Or keep them all to yourself. Your choice.
