Key notes

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 won’t require a massive 300 GB download as previously stated.
  • Xbox store page mistakenly listed the download size due to including other Call of Duty games and all languages.
  • Players can choose to download just Black Ops 6 without unnecessary data.

Call of Duty fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Activision has clarified that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not require a huge 300 GB download.

Earlier this week, panic arose after the Xbox store page listed the game’s download size at 309.85 GB. This would have been a substantial chunk of storage space for even the latest generation consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Also, it’d make it 2x times Red Dead Redemption 2, whose first version might be coming to Windows.

Activision addressed the confusion in a social media post. The company explained that the listed size was a mistake and included the full installations of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and Call of Duty: Warzone. Not just this, it factored in all content packs and every available language option, which most players wouldn’t download entirely.

The good news is that players will have the freedom to choose what they download. They can opt for just Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and avoid unnecessary language packs or other extras.

While the exact download size for Black Ops 6 now remains unconfirmed, Activision assures fans that they’ll receive more information closer to launch. This should help gamers plan their storage accordingly.

Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be an exciting entry in the long-running series. It’s also going to be the first Call of Duty to debut on Xbox Game Pass.
