Along with the news about the new Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Studio 2, Microsoft also announced several new software experiences. One of them was about the upcoming inking and 3D improvements for Word and PowerPoint apps. You can now ink your ideas and PowerPoint will use AI to transform them into formatted slides. For example, if you’re inking a flow chart or diagram, you can create them using a Pen and PowerPoint will convert them into text and snapped shapes in one touch. Microsoft also announced updated PowerPoint Designer that can now recommend slide designs based on handwritten ink. Microsoft is also adding 350 new icons to the library.
Finally, Microsoft also announced support for built-in animations to 3D models in PowerPoint and Word. They have added over 30 new animated 3D models. With the new Ink Editor, there are new pen gestures that make editing a document easier, for adding line breaks, inserting new words and more.
The ink to Designer feature will be coming next month while 3D Embedded Animations will roll out to Office Insiders first, and will become to all in the coming weeks. Text to Smart Art and icons will also be available for PowerPoint Online and Mac.
