AT&T, one of the largest mobile networks in the US, today announced its plans to roll out mobile 5G network to customers in a dozen cities, including parts of Dallas, Atlanta and Waco, Texas, by the end of this year. They will reveal other cities that will be part of this initial roll-out in the coming months. AT&T is also planning to add more 5G capable mobile devices and smartphones in early 2019 and beyond.

โ€œAfter significantly contributing to the first phase of 5G standards, conducting multi-city trials, and literally transforming our network for the future, weโ€™re planning to be the first carrier to deliver standards-based mobile 5G โ€“ and do it much sooner than most people thought possible,โ€ said Igal Elbaz, senior vice president, Wireless Network Architecture and Design. โ€œOur mobile 5G firsts will put our customers in the middle of it all.โ€

With a mobile 5G network and a compatible 5G smartphone, customers can expect multiple gigabits per second speed on their devices with lower latency. I guess we will be able to live stream 4K 360 degree content from our smartphones!
