xbox project kennan leak

Earlier this week, Windows Central shared a report detailing Microsoft’s future plans for the next-gen Xbox console and a glimpse into a new handheld codenamed Kennan. There weren’t many details regarding the console at the time, but it seems that now The Verge has a similar report which adds some more information and points towards ASUS as the console’s manufacturer.

What we know so far

Project Kennan is being developed by ASUS in partnership with Microsoft. The handheld will run on Windows but feature an Xbox-like interface, aiming to provide a console-like gaming experience in a portable form factor.

The handheld is expected to support Xbox Play Anywhere titles and Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing users to access their Xbox library on the go. Additionally, as a Windows-based device, it will likely be compatible with various game clients, including Steam and Epic Games Store, offering a versatile gaming experience.

Pricing and Availability

While specific pricing details have not been officially confirmed, reports suggest that Project Kennan may be priced between $499 and $599. The official release date has yet to be announced, but the device is anticipated to launch later this year.

Project Kennan aligns with Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to harmonize the Windows and Xbox platforms, creating a unified gaming ecosystem. This approach simplifies game development and provides a consistent user experience across devices.

By collaborating with ASUS on Project Kennan, Microsoft seeks to expand its presence in the handheld gaming market, offering gamers a portable solution that integrates seamlessly with the broader Xbox ecosystem.
