Xbox remote play

Does your Xbox randomly disable your video settings after a remote-play session? Well, we might have some good news.

Folks over at the green console have just shipped a new beta update for the invite-only Alpha-Skip Ahead ring. With that, it’s fixing the issue where “video settings being disabled unexpectedly after a remote play session, such as 4K 120Hz, variable refresh rate, and auto low-latency mode.”

To start a remote play session on Xbox, you need an Xbox console (duh) with remote play enabled, a device such as a PC, smartphone, or tablet, and the Xbox app installed on that device.

And, your Xbox must be set to Instant-on power mode, and both your console and device should be connected to a stable internet connection. You will also need a compatible controller connected to your device via Bluetooth or USB, and it doesn’t matter even if it’s PlayStation 5’s DualSense.

Still from the same update, Microsoft is also addressing issues like game clips and screenshots not capturing during cloud gaming (which is also arriving for the Alpha ring) and random small updates for disc-based games.

It also includes improvements here and there to local language reflections across the console. Known issues include problems with Dolby Vision detection on certain TVs, which Microsoft is investigating. The update can be manually installed through the Xbox settings.
