Witcher 3 Xbox Series S Xbox Series X

One of this generation’s most critically acclaimed and popular games is now enhanced for Xbox One X. Developer CD Projekt RED announced plans months ago to enhance The Witcher 3 on Microsoft’s 4K-capable console, and today is the day players can finally take advantage of these improvements (via The Witcher).

A major new option is the introduction of two graphical modes that players can choose from; 4K Mode and Performance Mode. CD Projekt RED explains these mode by stating that in 4K Mode the game will run in 4K resolution (or supersampled on a non-4K display) with stable 30FPS gameplay, while in Performance Mode dynamic resolution scaling will be enabled (from 1080p up to 4K) while targeting 60FPS gameplay. Both modes support HDR.

The full list of enhancements can be read below.

  • 2 new graphic modes: 4K Mode and Performance Mode
  • support for 4K resolution
  • HDR support
  • enhanced shadows, ambient occlusion and texture filtering
  • higher resolutions textures
  • dynamic resolution scaling (from 1080p to 4K)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is already a gorgeous game running on a standard Xbox One, so these visual improvements should make it even more stunning.

Let us know if you’ve already updated the game and what you think of these enhancements. If you somehow haven’t played it yet, you can pick up the Complete Edition (includes all expansions) from the Microsoft Store for $49.99. The game may be over two years old, but it’s still worth every penny.
