Sega has announced that Team Sonic Racing has been delayed until May 21st, 2019.
While it was supposed to release in December, the title has been pushed back so that Sumo Digital can “hone the title to enhance the player experience [and make sure it] delivers the best gameplay experience possible.”
In a statement to IGN, SEGA said, “We understand that many fans were looking forward to a Winter release and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We’re confident that with this additional time our teams will ensure delivering an unforgettable experience that fans can enjoy for years to come.”
Sumo Digital, the developers behind the game, have proven their skill in creating a fun and engaging kart racer before. Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed is one of the best rivals Nintendo’s Mario Kart has ever seen, but that did feature more than just Sonic characters. Let’s hope that they can prove themselves once again.
Team Sonic Racing is available to pre-order for $39.99
