Since its inception, Microsoft’s Surface Pro lineup came with Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. And the Surface Laptop which was introduced last year came with Windows 10 S. This year, Microsoft has decided to pre-install Windows 10 Home on Surface Pro 6 and Surface Laptop 2 for general consumers. For commercial customers, Microsoft will continue to pre-install Windows 10 Pro edition. Even though most of the general consumers will not care about getting Windows 10 Home instead of Pro, this move might disappoint some small businesses and startups. They have to now pay $100 more to get a commercial edition Surface device running Windows 10 Pro.

There’s also slight differences in the Core i5 CPU between consumer and commercial versions of Surface devices. The commercial edition Surface device will come with a CPU that supports Intel vPro Platform for enterprise IT manageability.
