Spotify, the world’s most popular music streaming service, is currently testing a new car mode feature which should make it easier to control the app without being overly distracted while driving.

The feature was noticed by Reddit userChris54721, who it appears had the update pushed out by accident to his Android phone.

He posted these screen shots below:

The car mode, accessed by tapping the car icon at the bottom left of the screen, enlarges controls, lets you control the app by voice, and lets you easily swipe between Recent, Featured and Playlists.

Not all the features are working at present, and in particular voice commands generate an error.

Those who use the Spotify and Waze app on Android would know that Waze already includes the ability to control Spotify using a control overlay in the Waze app and vice versa, but this new feature would be available when you already know where you driving also.

It is not known when Spotify will push our the feature more widely.
