OpenAI will begin beta testing a new product called ChatGPT Connectors, according to a document viewed by TechCrunch. The aim is to increase workplace productivity by integrating ChatGPT into commonly used services like Google Drive and Slack.

ChatGPT Connectors should enhance productivity

The new ChatGPT Connectors will integrate seamlessly, allowing subscribers of ChatGPT Team to link their workspace Google Drive and Slack accounts to ChatGPT so that the chatbot can retrieve and analyze files, presentations, spreadsheets, and Slack conversations to provide well-informed responses.

The integration will also focus on security, utilizing encrypted connections and respecting user permissions such that ChatGPT only sees the data the users allow it to view, thereby maintaining confidentiality and security.

Additional related information which [sic] the model did not directly make use of is accessible by clicking on the sources button at the bottom of each response. When appropriate, the model will directly respond with a list of relevant results.

OpenAI also has plans to provide support for other platforms, such as Microsoft SharePoint and Box, increasing the variety of applications with which ChatGPT can be integrated, says the document:

This will allow employees using ChatGPT to easily make use of internal information similar to how they can use world knowledge via web search

By integrating ChatGPT into applications like Google Drive and Slack, OpenAI is attempting to make workflows more frictionless and collaboration more productive, particularly for remote working environments where quick access to information is crucial.

Beta testing will be available to a select group of ChatGPT Team subscribers so that OpenAI can gain feedback and continue developing the feature before broader availability.
