We are big fans of the Samsung Galaxy Fold, but it seems that the device is just not ready for prime time yet.
Earlier reviewers are finding the device is extremely fragile, particularly the screen, with multiple reviewers running into problems.
The Verge reports some object managed to work its way under the screen (the bulge above) which eventually ended up breaking the AMOLED screen, resulting in the lines in the display in the header picture above.
Other viewers were equally unlucky.

The phone comes with this protective layer/film. Samsung says you are not supposed to remove it. I removed it, not knowing you’re not supposed to (consumers won’t know either). It appeared removable in the left corner, so I took it off. I believe this contributed to the problem. pic.twitter.com/fU646D2zpY

The device is living up to the worst fears regarding folding screens, with some reviewers even complaining of the plastic screen scratching.
While Samsung should be lauded for making science fiction reality, it appears that it would be very wise to sit out this round until the technology matures a lot more.
