Microsoft’s Xbox One family of devices are pretty great devices, from the Xbox One to the One S. Whatever the reason, an Xbox owner should always know exactly how to reset their Xbox One back to its factory state and/or default settings in a pinch. The reason for this is so users can be able to reset their devices should they run into a glitch or decide to sell or gift away their console.
Here’s how to do so on your Xbox:
- Â Open Settings
- Â Navigate to System Settings > Â > Console Info & Updates
- Â On that pane, there should be an option to “reset your console”
Once you’re sure you really want to reset your console, you can do so by tapping on the appropriate option.
Much like full Windows on PCs, Microsoft lets you configure your reset in two ways.
- Â Reset Everything: This wipes your console clean and removes all your games and apps from the device. This is ideal for scenarios when you would want to give away your console and./or sell it off to a stranger. In addition to this, you can also use this
- Â Keep my apps and games: This restores the console to factory settings while seeking your apps and games installed on the console. This means that you can quickly set up your console again with minimal hassle without needing to reinstall your content.
