OpenAI has made its new artificial intelligence model, the o1-pro, available to developers via its API, and it looks to be a giant step in artificial intelligence capability. From the o1 reason model platform, the o1-pro uses more computing power to supply more accurate and trustworthy answers, particularly in complex problem-solving scenarios.
The o1-pro is better than o1, but costs a lot more
o1-pro is more reliable in managing complex tasks, e.g., more advanced mathematics and coding problem-solving. Initially limited to ChatGPT Pro clients since December, o1-pro can now be accessed by invited developers ready to bear at least $5 in charges on OpenAI’s API platforms.
The more advanced o1-pro means a more costly pricing model:
- Input Tokens: $150 for every million tokens (approximately 750,000 words).
- Price: $600 for million tokens.
This is significantly higher than OpenAI’s previous models, reflecting the higher computational muscle required to deliver the o1-pro model’s increased capabilities. Here’s what one user said:
Got too excited before reading the price.
This one is too much even for me ?.
Developers can leverage the o1-pro model’s more advanced reasoning capabilities to create more sophisticated and impactful AI-powered applications. OpenAI anticipates that the higher performance will be worth the higher cost, offering excellent value for applications demanding high-level AI functionality.
