We already know that Israeli firm Cellebrite offers special tools that can unlock locked iPhones. Several government agencies around the world use Cellebrite’s unlock tools to gather evidence from seized iPhones. According to a latest report, NYC Manhattan DA’s office had access to Cellebrite’s Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED) Premium service from Jan 2018. It is interesting to note that Cellebrite launched its UFED service only in June 2019. Using this tool Manhattan DA’s office was able to unlock almost any iPhone or Android device. According to this report, the DA’s office paid $200,000 for this tool.
