Nokia 808 Pureview Nokia Lumia 800

The Symbian-powered Nokia 8080 Pureview camera has just passed through FCC on the way to the market this May, and their traditional teardown of the device reveals a bit of the magic of the 41 megapixel Pureview sensor, its massive size.

On the right is the finger-nail-sized sensor of the Nokia Lumia 800, while on the left we find the the postage-stamp-sized sensor of the Nokia 808 Pureview which also stands rather proud of the surface of the circuit board, casting a long shadow.

Physics explains why even a Windows Phone Lumia Pureview phone will have an appreciable bulge, but I think if Nokia releases a range of high end Windows Phones there would be no reason why Nokia could not service that part of the community who really want to replace their camera with a smartphone.
