The next big update for No Man’s Sky, known simply as Beyond, is due out on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 on the 14th of August.

Beyond is set to contain three major in-game updates and will be completely free for everyone who owns No Man’s Sky.

Two of the major updates include a greater online experience, while the other consists of a full-fledged VR mode.

The team at Hello Games are keeping hush about the third major update but, with only 11 days to go until Beyond hits, fans won’t have to wait long to find out what it is.

For the online aspect, the No Man’s Sky team plan on bringing together players from across the universe to play and explore together. However, the team doesn’t consider it to be an MMO – there’ll be no subscription, no microtransactions, and the update will always be free. It’s just you, your friends, and potentially some strangers, exploring worlds together.

Meanwhile, the new VR mode will bring all of the universe to life in virtual reality. You can also use VR in multiplayer, meaning you can play with both VR and non-VR friends.

It should be noted that VR support will only be compatible with PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive headsets, so Xbox-only players might feel a little left out.

Beyond will hit No Man’s Sky on August 14th, 2019.
