Microsoft is developing a new feature in Windows 11 that will help users understand how their hardware specifications impact system performance. The feature, hidden in a recent Dev Channel build, introduces a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page in the Settings app > System > About.

Microsoft will tell you if your PC sucks or not

The FAQ addresses how different hardware aspects, such as RAM and GPU, impact overall system performance. For instance, it illustrates the effect of having 4-8GB of RAM on system response and multitasking capability.

It also provides recommendations regarding the benefits of specific hardware configurations. For example, the FAQ explains how a discrete GPU can improve user experience and productivity, particularly in advanced gaming and video production.

The page features alerts to update the system with the latest version of Windows 11 and focuses on why the operating system must be current to achieve optimum performance and security.

Its main objective is to empower users by providing more transparent data regarding how specifications within the device impact performance, helping them make improved decisions on hardware upgrades and system maintenance.

This FAQ feature is still in testing and not officially available. However, it can be manually enabled in the latest Dev Channel builds using third-party tools like ViVeTool with the ID “5530588.” The fact that it is available in these builds suggests that Microsoft may roll out this feature to all Windows 11 users in future updates.
