Microsoft will participate in the Ubuntu Summit 2023, an annual conference and celebration of the latest innovations from the Linux and open-source ecosystem.

As announced on the company’s blog post, the summit will be held from November 3-5, 2023 in Riga, Latvia.

Microsoft will have a presence at the summit with a booth, talks, and workshops. The talks will cover a broad range of topics, including Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), .NET 8 applications on Ubuntu, and Azure’s integration with Ubuntu’s snapshot service.

One of the highlights of Microsoft’s participation in the summit will be a roundtable discussion on the future of AI. The discussion will feature speakers from Canonical, Microsoft, Nextcloud, and QuantumBlack, AI by McKinsey.

“There are many reasons to attend the Ubuntu Summit, including electrifying talks from industry leaders, invigorating hands-on workshops, and a unique opportunity to network with like-minded people from across the open-source world,” the event’s announcement reads.

Participants will discuss the potential benefits and risks of AI, as well as the ethical considerations that need to be taken into account as AI continues to develop.
