Redmond has just published its earnings report for the first quarter of the 2018 fiscal year. Microsoft reported a revenue of $24.5 billion, up 12% YoY. Microsoft beat analyst expectations, which projected Microsoft’s revenue at $23.56 billion.
Microsoft’s growth this quarter was, once again, fueled by growth in its cloud business. Microsoft’s Intelligent Cloud business’s revenue was $6.9 billion, up by 14% YoY. The company’s revenue from Office commercial products and cloud services also increased by 10% YoY, with Dynamics products and cloud services’ revenue increasing by 13%.
Windows OEM revenue is also on the rise, experiencing a decent 4% growth year-over-year. Although the company’s revenue from its More Personal Computing remained unchanged, there was a huge growth in the revenue from Surface: an increase of 12% — mostly driven by the new Surface Laptop. Revenue from Xbox and Microsoft’s gaming business increased by only 1%, though.
