Mass Effect: Andromeda received a 700 MB patch on Xbox One today. While Patch 1.04 was 2 GB on PC and PlayStation 4, it was significantly smaller on Xbox One. BioWare hasn’t released any official patch notes for the Xbox One version so far, but said the content was similar to what gamers received on other platforms. According to the developers, the update fixes a few issues but mostly focuses on performance and stability. We’ve been testing the patch for the past couple of hours and immediately noticed less frame rate issues in every environment. Here’s hoping BioWare continues to address the problem and completely fixes it soon. Hopefully they’ll reduce the frame rate fluctuations to a point where they’re barely noticeable.

Apart from that, the patch tweaks multiplayer and sound effects. This definitely isn’t the patch many gamers were hoping for but it’s a good start. Mass Effect: Andromeda came out on Xbox One and PC today but was welcomed by tepid reviews. Many critics noticed the frame rate problems, visual glitches and subpar animation quality. The story of the game is great but the severe problems prevent it from reaching its full potential. It’s a shame that a game that took so many years to develop wasn’t a technical showcase when it came out.
