Apple is set to revolutionize phone looks with the pending release of the iPhone 17 Air, according to a new Bloomberg report. This new phone is all about super-thin appearances and guarantees an age of ports-less living (almost). Releasing this fall, the iPhone 17 Air is Apple’s thinnest phone yet, measuring in at 5.5mm.
Although razor-thin, the Air should have good battery life
The iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch display, putting it in the middle size between the standard and Pro versions. It will be thin despite this, and thanks to improvements in engineering that allow thinner batteries with no loss of performance, it should offer similar battery life to other iPhones.
In designing the iPhone 17 Air, Apple is said to have contemplated removing all ports, using only wireless charging and cloud-based data syncing. However, fears of regulatory reactions, especially from European regulators requiring USB-C ports, prompted the company to keep at least one port in the design.
The iPhone 17 Air is seen as the first step in a future product series that will be portless and foldable. Success with this product would unlock future designs with even more dramatic design revisions, a testament to Apple’s commitment to innovation and simplicity of form.
With Apple preparing for the launch of the iPhone 17 Air, the tech world eagerly awaits to understand how such design aspects will shape the wider smartphone sector and adoption.
