Copilot key

The March update for Windows 11 already had many issues with Roblox and Citrix, but now it seems that Microsoft’s favorite AI assistant, Copilot, isn’t doing too great either. According to an official support document, Microsoft has acknowledged that the recent Windows 11 update, KB5053598, inadvertently removed the Copilot AI assistant from some PCs.

Want it back? You can just reinstall it

Many users that have been affected by this issue said that the Copilot app is missing and its taskbar shortcut has been unpinned. In response, Microsoft has suggested a temporary solution to restore Copilot functionality. The company advises that users reinstall the Copilot app directly from the Microsoft Store and manually repin it to the taskbar.

Microsoft is actively working on a permanent solution to prevent such unintentional uninstalls in future releases. If you’ve also been affected by this, Microsoft advises to watch official Microsoft channels for future patches and updates for this issue.

The problem has caused a divided reaction among the Windows user base. Some users rely on Copilot for heightened productivity, whereas others have expressed indifference or satisfaction with its removal:

wish this wasn’t a bug.
