Solving a math equation and a physics problem with Socratic’s help

Students often get “stuck” while studying. If they are in school, they can approach their teachers for help. But when they are at home, they end up in frustration after trying to solve their doubts on their own. Google’s latest app called Socratic is trying to solve this problem using AI. Socratic guides students through the resources that are available, and identifies the core underlying concepts that will lead them to answers to their questions.

For example, students can take a photo of a question, Socratic will find the most relevant resources from across the web. If they don’t understand textbook content, they can take a photo of the page and check out alternative explanations (videos, concept explanations, and online resources) of the same which are available on the web. To help students who are studying for a test, Google has created subject guides on over 1,000 higher education and high school topics.

Socratic app features:

  • Use your voice or camera to connect to online resources and understand any problem.
  • Find videos, step-by-step explanations, and more to learn subjects at your own pace.
  • Socratic partnered with teachers and experts to bring you visual explanations in each subject, so you can learn the concepts behind any problem.
  • Currently includes Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, and Literature. More to come!

You can download the app here from Apple App Store.
