Google yesterday announced that they have promoted Chrome 78 to the stable channel for Windows, Mac and Linux. This new update comes with several new features, improvements and bug fixes. You can find the summary of new improvements below:
Click-to-call:
With the new “click-to-call” feature, you can right click any phone number you find on the web and send it directly to your Android device. On your Android device, you will receive a Chrome notification, tapping the notification will enter the number in your phone app.
More customization options for New Tab page:
Until now, Chrome allowed users to set a background or theme from the Chrome Web Store for New Tag page. With this update, customization is now offered in three ways: Background, Shortcuts and Color & Theme.
Redesigned tooltip for tabs:
When you hover over a tab, instead of displaying the web page title text in a thin strip, Chrome now displays the content in a bubble overlay UI.
Password checkup extension:
Early this year, Google released a Chrome extension called Password Checkup that helps you protect your accounts from third party data breaches. After installing this extension, wherever you sign-in, if you enter a username and password which are already compromised in a data breach, you will receive a warning to reset your password. This extension will be soon integrated inside Chrome 78 browser.
