fix problems using windows updateMicrosoft has been testing a new feature that will make it easier to repair your PC. This feature, called “Fix problems using Windows update,” is located in the Settings app under System > Recover. The feature has been rigorously tested by insiders for some time, but will we see this feature being released to the general public?
Well, we may have some good news for you. If you remember, this very option was first announced in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25905 for Canary insiders. This is a “hot-off-the-presses” channel that often rolls out features and fixes with ” very little validation and documentation” that aren’t fully ironed yet.
“This operation reinstalls the OS that you have and will not remove any files, settings, or apps. The repair content is displayed on the Windows Update Settings page with the title appended with “(repair version),” says Microsoft in the changelog.
Now, Windows enthusiast @PhantomOfEarth discovered that the option is available in the Dev channel (Build 23516), which is a more advanced version of the Insider program that is closer to the general release version of Windows. However, the option is currently hidden, so you will need to use a third-party tool like ViVeTool to activate it if you are not one of the lucky Dev insiders selected by Microsoft to test it out.

But, why is Microsoft hiding features from insider builds? Well, many reasons could be in place. Microsoft could want to test the features in question in a controlled environment with a limited number of users in certain channels before releasing it to the general public.
What are your thoughts about Microsoft hiding the “Fix problems using Windows update” feature in Dev channel? Will we see this coming out for general release? Let us know in the comments!
