Perplexity has recently announced it has been working on Comet, an agentic search browser with an aim to compete with the number one browser in the world, none other than Chrome. Looks as if, going by Perplexity CEO’s post on X, Comet will have its own game that works offline, like Chrome’s T-rex/Dino.

Perplexity AI is a free search engine that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to answer user queries. It is designed to provide accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information.

While the Comet browser by Perplexity is still unavailable, you can join the waitlist here by providing your email address to try it out when available. With the caption “Browse with intelligence,” how well Comet could challenge Chrome remains to be seen in the future. At the moment, we can only know about its name and logo and perform an agentic search. Other than that, we don’t have any other information about the UI or features the browser is going to offer, or whether it will be Chromium-based or not. These things will only be revealed with time.

Perplexity CEO, keeping users interested and engaged, asked on X whether users liked Chrome’s T-rex game when there is no connection and asked whether they want Comet to have its own game similar to that when offline.

In case you don’t know, when you lose connection, Chrome shows Dino as a game that requires you to press the spacebar to get started, which can also be accessed anytime, even online, by visiting chrome://dino.
