Many gamers didn’t expect Super Mario Marker to be the sensation that it was because building your own levels seems like a daunting task. However, the title was a smash hit which sold exceptionally well. Super Mario Maker allows you to create and share your very own Mario levels using the controller, then play a near-infinite number of intensely creative levels from other makers around the world. It seems like other publishers want to capitalize on the success of the genre.

Today, Bandai Namco filed a trademark for a game called Pac-Man Maker. The game is expected to be a similar experience to Super Mario Maker where players are allowed to create and share their levels online. The developers may also provide some existing levels for gamers to play but the title will probably rely on user-generated content the same way Super Mario Maker does. While we don’t know much about the platforms the game will be available on, it’s expected to release on Xbox One and PC given the way past Pac-Man games have been published by Bandai Namco.

Pac-Man is a cult classic and gamers have been asking for the ability to make their own levels for years now. It looks like Pac-Man Maker may finally be the title everyone wants. Hopefully Bandai Namco will confirm the game soon because the trademark is already out in the wild. Maybe it’s a surprise for E3 2017! We should know for sure in the coming weeks.
