Last year, to meet the demands of businesses that require a virtualized desktop experience, Microsoft announced the new Windows Virtual Desktop service. The new Windows Virtual Desktop based on Azure is the only cloud-based service that delivers a multi-user Windows 10 experience.
The new Windows Virtual Desktop provides the best virtualized Windows and Office experience.
Today Microsoft announced that the service is available in Public Preview, allowing enterprise users to give it a try-out.
The service is for Microsoft 365 Enterprise customers and requires an Azure subscription. It is currently available in the US East 2 and US Central Azure regions, with the service eventually expanding to all cloud regions once the preview is over.
Microsoft mentioned that Windows Virtual Desktop includes free Windows 7 Extended Security Updates, which would solve the security issues of running Windows 7 after the end of support in 2020.
