Despite being a streaming service that denounces downloads and preaches hassle-free streaming, players have been waiting for Google Stadia updates to download in games.

Stadia customers in the service’s official Subreddit have posted screenshots of Stadia games performing in-game updates during play. With Stadia touted as a downloadless service, it comes as a surprise to see gamers requiring updates at all.

The update took place in an instance of NBA 2K20.  The title, which sees frequent updates on PC and console to introduce new team members and injuries, was caught updating mid-play.

A Google community manager quickly stepped into the discussion. Just like with their blunder with performance and visual clarity, it was immediately blamed on the developers.
