We reported two weeks ago that Microsoft expected that 3rd party developers will soon join their Play Anywhere venture, which allows gamers to buy a title digitally on PC or Xbox One and play it on either platform.

Now VentureBeat has confirmed that CD Projekt RED’s Gwent card game, a spin off from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will be one of the first 3rd party titles on Microsoft’s new sales platform.

‘Gwent’ is currently in Closed Beta for Xbox One and PC users. The game will be free to play with optional in-game purchases, and is expected to be released on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.

The game is described as “much more than the game you used to play in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt”, which “includes in-game assets like card art, card voice-overs and even skills, and what’s even more important, it features a competitive PVP mode built from scratch.” Besides Play Anywhere the game will also feature cross-platform play between the Windows and Xbox One versions as well.

Play Anywhere also offers other advantages including the ability to pick up where you left off on another Xbox One or Windows 10 PC and bring all your saves, game add-ons, and achievements with you.
