As we are excited by Microsoft and Nokia’s partnership deal, natural questions that arises are the information  on actual products and When will the first Nokia Windows Phone 7 release? In a press release to financial analysts and stock holders, Nokia have mentioned that 2011-2012 will be the year of transition to build the mobile ecosystem they have planned with Microsoft. Also due to the initiation of Nokia’s strategic transformation on February 11, 2011, the full-year prospects for its Devices & Services business are subject to significant uncertainties, so they are not going to announce any forecasts.

Nokia expects 2011 and 2012 to be transition years, as the company invests to build the planned winning ecosystem with Microsoft. After the transition, Nokia targets longer-term:
– Devices & Services net sales to grow faster than the market.
– Devices & Services non-IFRS* operating margin to be 10% or more.

So I think we can expect Nokia Windows Phone 7 devices by fourth quarter of this year and Steve Ballmer revealed in a press conference that they are already working on their first Nokia WP7 device and their engineering teams are working hard on that. Also Nokia expects to sell about 150 Million Symbian based devices this year and release its first MeeGo based product later this year.

More on Nokia, Microsoft Partnership from Nokia’s blog penned by Stephen Elop and Steve Ballmer,

Nokia wouldn’t be just be another Windows Phone OEM. Nokia plans to help drive and define the future of the platform. That could include contributing expertise on hardware optimization, language support, customization of the software and helping bring Windows Phone to a larger range of price points, market segments and geographies.

There are other mobile ecosystems. We will disrupt them.

There will be challenges. We will overcome them.

Success requires speed. We will be swift.

Together, we see the opportunity, and we have the will, the resources and the drive to succeed.

Read the other two ecosystems as Apple and Android. What do you think of this deal?
