The ZTE Tania was revealed a yesterday, and now theInquirer.net reports the Windows Phone 7.5 handset will be heading for the UK market “very soon” in the fourth quarter on an unnamed carrier as the ZTE Spirit.
ZTE’s director of mobile device operations, Wu Sa said the handset used the same platform as their Skate android devices, and that the move to Windows Phone 7 was strategic.
“We see entry into the Windows market as a strategic move,” he added.
The handset, which Sa said was “essentially a part of the Skate family which supports both Android and Windows” features a 4.3 inch screen, 1 Ghz processor, 5 megapixel camera and strangely only 4 GB of storage. Â One can but assume it must come with expandable storage also.
The ZTE Skate with a 4.3 inch screen and 800 Mhz processor costs around £220 unlocked, making the ZTE Spirit likely not much more.
The Inquirer notes in their brief time with the phone it left a good impression and it felt like a quality handset, and could be a winner if reasonably priced.
Sa himself had no reservations about the quality of the handset, saying “So far we believe it’s probably the best, in its segment, the best Mango phone.”
