CNET has had a hands-on with the ZTE Render, a Windows Phone 7.5 phone that is coming to U.S. Cellular for $70 after a mail-in rebate.
They noted the screen of the low-end handset was not very responsive to touch, and talk time from the 1,600 mAh battery was low at 4.67 hours. However in use the device operated smoothly with no hiccups or lag.
They lamented the lack of a front-facing camera but noted the rear 5 megapixel camera did come with a flash.
As expected, they did not see much future for the handset, with new Windows Phone 8 handset popping up soon on other carriers, with the lower-end versions likely within a few dollars of the price of this handset.
